Access
The main vehicular access to the northern part of the development will be via Frenchs Avenue where the road will be extended onto the site.
A T-junction will provide access from Weatherby to the southern section of the site.
The street network will be designed to discourage the through movement of cars between Frenchs Avenue and Weatherby. This will be reinforced through a “bus gate” which will contain cars to either the Northern or Southern section of the site. However buses and emergency vehicles will be able to run through the entire site servicing all of the development.
North West Dunstable meets all the Local Transport Plan accessibility criteria for new development and, in many cases, exceeds them by locating the development within walking distance of key facilities. |
Travel Plan
A Travel Plan will be prepared to help influence travel choice through informing, advising and educating potential travellers about transport methods available to them. Such measures could include:
- Personalised Travel Planning
- Community Travel Centres and Websites
- Assisting the Mobility Impaired
- Direct Marketing
- Car Clubs
- Monitoring, Education & Information Technology
The Travel Plan will ensure that the full range of non-car travel opportunities presented by the development are utilised by residents, and in particular aims to reduce the amount of road traffic.

Transport Assessment
We are currently liaising with Central Bedfordshire Council and the Highways Agency to complete a detailed transport assessment. This will identify the nature of works required on existing roads to achieve safe access to the development.
